Oh… it’s that time of year again. You can hear it echoing in the collective heartbeat of Cape Town as pulses quicken with anticipation of excitement, beer, music, straw, tents, flowers, high-fives, suntans, sunburns, mosquito bites, electro tents, laughter and muddy toes… that’s riiight…. FESTIVAL SEASON!!!
Honestly, if you haven’t heard of Rocking the Daisies then just smile and nod, because you’re pretty damn awkward right now and you might want to check with Aunty Helen about your rights of calling yourself Capetonian… or human.
Speaking of Human, it’s a pretty amazing example of it. Think old-school Woodstock festival with slightly less open displays of drugs and sex… (but only slightly.)
This year 49m have jumped on board as sponsors which adds to the radical Instagram Hipster super awesome wow – ‘greenest festival ever in SA’ credit.
Bottom line, it’s going to be epic. Plus the comedy tent at the Lemon Tree Theatre is kicking it hard again this year. I’ll be performing on Friday night and Saturday 11.30am. (So come shake off your hangover with some lols)
Other comedians booked for the festival include:
Rob Van Vuuren
Kellyn “Oh her” Coetzee
And more! …See the full comedy line up here.
Rocking the Daisies is simply full of awesome… If you’re under 40… And over 18. (Preferably over 21… please God… not because 18 year olds are irritating, well – they are. But also because it avoids any awkward hookups for us 29year olds with beer and daisies goggles on.) Read my HIGH FIVE review of the awesome from last year when I was performing comedy in ‘Rocked, Rolled and Smoked those Daisies 2011‘.
There are SEVEN stages – the main stage featuring bands like Bloc Party, Desmond and the Tutus, Kongos, Arno Carstens, Jeremy Loops and lank others.
